General Liposuction

Liposuction

What is General Liposuction?

Through general liposuction fat is removed from certain areas of the body that cannot be corrected through diet and exercise, being the most effective body reshaping for both women and men.

Body fat cells are multiplying in number (hyperplasia) only until the age of 4. Beyond this age, fat cells no longer multiply in numbers, thought they still maintain the ability to increase their volume (up to over 1000 times) by accumulating fat.

General Liposuction with Crisalix 3D Scan

During the first consultation you will discuss with your doctor about grievances, wishes and expectations and also about your medical history and possible risks. You will receive the most suitable expert medical advice for your specific case.

This is the best opportunity to ask the doctor any questions about the surgery and also to see before/after pictures of other patients who underwent the same procedure.

Based on Crisalix 3D scanning technology, you will be able to see a simulation of your own body before and after surgery during the consultation. This is very useful for you to understand the realistic expectations you could have from the surgery.

What happens during General Liposuction surgery?

Depending on the number of areas involved and the estimated amount of fat to be removed, the surgery can take between 1-4 hours under general anesthesia.

Subsequently, hospitalization is required for 24 to 48 hours, as a period of continuous supervision, and, after discharge, several days with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant treatment are needed.

Liposuction is performed using probes aspiring fat, after being previously introducing a drug solution in order to lyse fat cells and greatly reduce the amount of bleeding.

The approach is performed through punctiform incisions of a few millimeters, which will scar well hidden in natural skin folds. Thus, they will not count in terms of aesthetics and will not affect the final look.

Post-surgery recovery

You will be required to wear a compression bandage for 3 weeks and antithrombotic compression stockings that cover at least the period of bed rest and, after two weeks, is recommended to perform a light massage for the lymphatic stimulation of the liposuctioned areas.

Ecchymosis (bruising) may persist for up to three weeks, accompanied by local swelling which will withdraw spontaneously in 3-4 weeks.

For patients who have undergone liposuction surgery in areas from the waist down, postoperative anticoagulant treatment will be administered to prevent venous thrombosis.

The end result will be visible after about 3 months from the surgery, during this period can be observed a gradual decrease in weight and size of the liposuctioned areas. You should avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays for at least 6 months after surgery.
