Otoplasty
What is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty is an aesthetic surgical procedure performed mainly to correct ears with unsatisfactory appearance. There are many people who have certain deformities of the ears. They can be either off (sticking out) or with insufficient cartilage plication, they can be larger than normal and even asymmetrical (in most ears that are sticking out).
They also may have an overall unsatisfactory aesthetic aspect.
Why have a Otoplasty?
to diminish distance between the ears and head
to emphasize the anatomical shapes that are underrepresented
to reduce sizes
Otoplasty consultation with Crisalix 3D Scan
During the first consultation you will discuss with your doctor about grievances, wishes and expectations and also about your medical history and possible risks. You will receive the most suitable expert medical advice for your specific case.
This is the best opportunity to ask the doctor any questions about the surgery and also to see before/after pictures of other patients who underwent the same procedure.
Based on Crisalix 3D scanning technology, you will be able to see a simulation of your own ears before and after surgery during the consultation. This is very useful for you to understand the realistic expectations you could have from the surgery.
Otoplasty surgery and recovery
The procedure takes between 1-2 hours and is performed under local anaesthesia, it requires no special precautions and one day hospital admission is required. Basically, you can go home the same day.
After surgery, apply a elastic bandage and a bandana needs to be worn for three weeks. The stitches are removed after 14 days. The only scar is behind the ear. Recovery is relatively immediate.
